Ange Postecoglou is a popular figure at Tottenham Hotspur. However, the more poor results which come in, the more pressure the Aussie manager is under. In fact, a former Tottenham player has chipped in, pleading for no more excuses.

Arriving in North London in 2023, Ange Postecoglou had an impressive first season in charge. He led Tottenham to fifth place, a position which he was not content with. This shouldn't be looked at with upturned noses, since nobody expected Tottenham to finish in the top four.

However, at the start of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, Ange Postecolgou has picked up just one win out of three. So, hopefully, this isn't a sign of what's to come this season for Spurs.

In an interview with Football365, former Tottenham Hotspur star David Bentley has affirmed the mounting pressure on Ange Postecoglou. He also claimed that the honey-moon period is over, meaning the Aussie boss has no excuses to not pick up results anymore.

In his own words, Bentley said: “You are going to find yourself under pressure at a club like Tottenham if you are losing matches... it all comes down to results and if they are going against you, the pressure will not be long in coming your way."

Bentley continued: “The honeymoon period of last season is over now so they have to try and get to the next level. That means finishing in the top four and trying to win a trophy because as we know, Tottenham haven’t won anything for a long time and their fans are fed up hearing about it."

While Bentley is overall in favour of Ange Postecoglou, it's hard to disagree with the pressure he is rightfully facing. Besides, Postecoglou is not the kind of character to shy away from pressure, so he would welcome the high-standards at Tottenham.

Tottenham supporters are understandably sick of mediocrity and sick of not winning trophies. For too long, they have been viewed as "underdogs", which is not good for a club like Spurs.

So, is Ange Postecoglou at risk of losing his job? No, I wouldn't go that far yet. However, it's definitely in his best interest to go out there and win games. Even if it means scrapping the tactical football for a few games to grind out some scrappy wins - They all count.
