Man City star speaks openly about Tottenham sacking their manager
By Kian Long
Currently, Ange Postecoglou is building some positive foundations for the future of Tottenham Hotspur. Fans do hope that results will begin to follow, but that will hopefully occur as a natural process.
Tottenham must not fall into the trap of displeasing Ange Postecoglou and making any drastic decisions surrounding his position, a toxic trait thay've been victim to in recent years.
There are murmurs among the Tottenham fanbase that Ange Postecoglou should be sacked if he doesn't start picking up results for Tottenham. Frankly, it is laughable and thankfully a minority stance.
One former Tottenham player has spoken openly about the impact that Tottenham sacking a former manager had on the dressing room. So, looking back through history, it is clear to notice this pattern and learn from it for the sake of the current squad.
Man City star speaks openly about Tottenham sacking their manager
Speaking on the You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast, former Tottenham and current Man City defender Kyle Walker recalled crying, along with his Tottenham teammates, when news broke that André Villas-Boas had been sacked.
In his own words (via Goal), Kyle Walker said: "I've got tears running down my eyes... Michael Dawson is welling up. That's how much he meant to the lads."
Kyle Walker continued: "There are a lot of changes there and we just never really gelled in time for him [Villas-Boas] to then do well. For 10 or 12 men to be crying because the manager's gone, he's done something well in the dressing room."
Kyle Walker is referring to the post Gareth Bale era, whereby Tottenham cooped a lot of money and spread it evenly across multiple player signings. Therefore, club legend Bale leaving the club meant a key transitional period for Tottenham and one which left André Villas-Boas under a lot of pressure.
And now, history repeats itself. Some fans won't like to hear this, but Ange Postecoglou has a difficult task. Spurs are now in the post Harry Kane era, similar to AVB being in the post Bale era.
Over the last few summer transfer windows, Tottenham have made many new signings. Therefore, the team is pretty unrecognisable to that which Harry Kane played in.
Supporters must give Ange Postecoglou some slack. He clearly has a winning mentality, which means making risky decisions from time to time. That said, Tottenham cannot progress as a club without taking risks.
Just imagine how many Tottenham players would cry, like Walker cried, if Postecoglou is sacked.
