Tottenham Hotspur has found itself in the midst of a fierce competition for the coveted signature of Lille striker Jonathan David this summer, as reported by The Guardian.

In recent weeks, multiple sources have highlighted Tottenham's keen interest in David. Just days ago, Football Insider even reported that Spurs had initiated talks with the striker's representatives to discuss a potential move to North London.

According to The Guardian, Spurs are eager to diversify their attacking options and have pinpointed David as a prime target. The club's recruitment department reportedly holds David in high regard, prompting early explorations into securing his services.

However, Tottenham faces stiff competition from fellow Premier League giants Chelsea, Manchester United, and West Ham in the race for the Canadian international. All three clubs have also expressed interest and have been monitoring David's availability closely.

West Ham, in particular, under the management of Julen Lopetegui, is actively pursuing David to bolster their attacking lineup. Yet, the report suggests that the striker's wage demands could pose a challenge for the Hammers, who are prioritizing defensive reinforcements before committing to a move for David.

With David entering the final year of his contract, The Guardian notes that Lille might be compelled to accept offers as low as £20m for the talented forward. Despite the relatively modest fee, David's quality and impressive goal-scoring record have attracted a significant queue of suitors.

Ultimately, the onus may lie on Spurs' manager, Ange Postecoglou, to work his managerial charm and convince David that Tottenham's current setup aligns perfectly with his playing style and ambitions.
