Tottenham could activate £60m release clause to sign London rivals’ star

Tottenham Hotspur have wasted no time in the summer transfer window so far and they have made quick movements, which fans would appreciate. They already signed Lucas Bergvall ahead of time and Ange Postecoglou added Timo Werner's extended loan and Archie Gray's permanent deal to that list when the transfer window opened.
Now, Spurs have been increasingly linked with a move for one of their London rivals' star players. In another quick turnaround, Ange Postecoglou is contemplating a clause in his contract to speed up the process.
Tottenham could activate £60m release clause to sign London rivals’ star
According to a report by The Sun, both Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are willing to trigger the £60m release clause in Eberechi Eze's contract, meaning they can skip club negotiations and jump straight to figuring out personal terms with the player. From Tottenham's perspective, they will want to be fast, especially considering Man City's openness.
It doesn't take a genius to realise that Man City have better pull than Tottenham. They are the best club in the country and they have the best head coach in the world. However, what Tottenham have is exciting and given that Ange Postecoglou has the gift of the gab, he has every potential to sway Eze from Man City's interest.
Eberechi Eze is one of the standout players for England at EURO 2024. While he is yet to start a match under Gareth Southgate in this competition, he has routinely came off the bench and made bright impacts throughout matches. Now, England are set to face off against Micky van de Ven's Netherlands in the semifinal.
There are no Tottenham players in the England squad but Ange Postecoglou has clearly been keeping an eye on Eze, hence the step-up in interest. Given his versatile nature and his incredible ability to dictate play in the final third, he would be a reasonable recruitment for Ange.
