In League Two, George Abbott and his Notts County side were looking to bounce back from their disappointing first defeat of the season last time out at home to Gillingham, as they traveled North to face lowly Morecambe, who were going into the game bottom of the League Two table.

For this game, Stuart Maynard once again put Abbott into the Notts starting lineup, making it four in a row having been a sub for his debut away to Swindon Town. The Spurs midfielder partnered with captain Matt Palmer in a double pivot in front of a back three for this one.

It couldn't have been much worse of a start for the Magpies, with Lee Angol putting the hosts ahead after just two minutes of the game. After that, Notts huffed and puffed, having the lion's share of possession whilst being able to create chances, but at halftime, the hosts were a goal to the good despite being the heavy underdogs.

Notts continued to press and probe, with Abbott missing a presentable chance with a left-footed effort midway through the second half. They eventually got their reward eleven minutes from time, though, as Matthew Platt grabbed an equaliser. Notts continued to try and score, not happy with just a draw - but were unable to get a winner despite the hosts going down to ten men with five minutes of stoppage time remaining.

Despite Stuart Maynard making four of his five subs, Abbott was once again trusted to play the whole 90 minutes, showing how much faith Maynard has in the young Spurs man. The 19-year-old created two chances, had two shots, 56 touches, won seven duels, drew four fouls, as well as making one clearance and one tackle in an all-action display.

The draw means that Notts County remain unbeaten on the road, with their eight points from four away games more than anyone else in League Two. They end matchday eight fourth in League Two, one place and one point outside of an automatic promotion spot.

Next up for Abbott and Notts County is another trip up North, this time all the way to Cumbria to face Carlisle on Tuesday night, 19:45 BST.
