Spurs international watch: Two wins in two for Tottenham duo
By Tom Vinall
Sweden made it two wins from two in their nations league group against Estonia on Sunday evening, triumphing 3-0 to complete a great international break for Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall.
Just like in their first game, away to Azerbaijan, Kulusevski was named in the starting line-up, whilst Bergvall started the game on the substitutes bench.
This time, however, unlike the more conventional 442 used in the aforementioned win over Azerbaijan, Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson went with a 3412 setup, with Kulusevski playing in the number ten role behind Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak.
From a Tottenham Hotspur point of view, it is a shame this wasn't more of a diamond setup, as it could have potentially allowed for Bergvall to also be named in the starting XI.
Another win for Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall
In any case, it was a superb performance from Kulusevski and the rest of the Sweden side, who scored all three of their goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half.
Kulusevski appeared to have assisted Gyokeres for his second and Sweden's third, latching onto a slide rule pass from Isak and squaring to the Sporting striker, though he has not officially been given the assist. In any case, it was a superb goal from an incredibly talented front three that Spurs' number 21 played a huge part in.
The 24-year-old completed 6/8 dribbles, had six shots, created five chances, one big chance (as well as the third goal), and won 7 duels in a superb performance. The attack with him behind two strikers like Isak and Gyokeres is mouth-watering and shows what potential Sweden have, at least in attack.
Whilst he didn't start the game, Bergvall did come on in the latter stages to get cap number three for his country, having a free-kick blocked in stoppage time.
Both players will now return to N17 nice and early in preparation for the big game at the weekend.
