It was two wins from as many games to kick off their nations league campaign for Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, and their Italian counterparts as they secured a 2-1 win against Israel on Monday evening.

Much like in their opening game victory away to France on Friday, both Vicario and Udogie were named on the substitutes bench by manager Luciano Spalletti, with the latter being introduced later on in the second half.

Having recorded a vital assist in the win over France, this cameo was more nondescript from Udogie, who played 19 minutes, replacing Inter Milan wing-back Federico Dimarco. The Spurs defender won 2/2 duels and completed his only dribble attempt in an otherwise non-eventful appearance. Nevertheless, the Italians managed to hold on for an important win despite conceding a goal in injury time.

Two wins from two for Vicario, Udogie and Italy so far

This win puts Italy clearly at the top of Nations League A Group 2, as they finish the break as the only team to have won both games and the only team not to have lost a game so far. Their goal difference of +3 is impressively three goals better than both Belgium and France.

This puts Vicario and Udogie's side with a good chance of qualifying for the Nations League knockout stages.. They will take place next summer, despite the introduction of a summer Club World Cup, because that is exactly what football needs, more games.

Hopefully, if Italy have managed to clinch top spot with a game or two to spare, we might see Vicario deputise for captain Gianluigi Donnarumma and get a run-in goal to finish off the group stage.

In any case, both Vicario and Udogie can return to N17 with their country having won two out of two games and both players being fresh and ready for the big task ahead in the North London derby that takes place this coming Sunday.
