Tottenham Hotspur's quest for a new striker has led them to consider Bologna's Joshua Zirkzee, according to Alasdair Gold's latest insights.

In recent months, Tottenham has been linked with strikers like Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord and Ivan Toney from Brentford, both topping Spurs' wishlist as per GiveMeSport. Amidst these discussions, sporadic reports have surfaced linking Tottenham with Zirkzee, who made a significant impact in Serie A after moving from Bayern Munich to Bologna last summer.

Initially reported by Corriere dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness), both Tottenham and AC Milan have shown interest in Zirkzee, impressed by his performances at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium last season. However, recent developments have Manchester United emerging as the frontrunner for the Dutch international, with Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg revealing United's talks with Zirkzee's agent regarding a potential move.

Responding to queries about Tottenham's interest in Zirkzee, Alasdair Gold clarified during a Q&A session with football.london: "Joshua Zirkzee is a player Tottenham have scouted. Although reports from Serie A indicate Milan are ahead in pursuing the Bologna striker, Manchester United are also in the mix."

Despite the buzz surrounding Zirkzee, it appears Tottenham's primary focus remains on Gimenez, Toney, and Openda. Yet, as the transfer window unfolds, surprises are always possible.
