Ahead of the Tottenham vs Man City fixture, Pep Guardiola has revealed some EFL Cup insight which will come as a boost to Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur progressed in the EFL Cup, after beating Coventry in the Third Round. Next up, they will face Man City in the Fourth Round, so it doesn't get any easier for Ange Postecoglou.

However, Man City have made the news rather consistently in recent weeks. They are full of complaints about the heated fixture schedule, made even busier due to UEFA adding more games.

Both Pep Guardiola and his players are tired of playing increased fixtures. In fact, they played on Sunday and then again on Tuesday this week, so their complaints are understandable

According to Pep Guardiola who spoke to the media, he will rest key players in the next round of the EFL Cup. This could work in Tottenham's favour as they will face a weakened Man City side.

In his own words, Guardiola said: “In the next round, I'm announcing now, I will play the players who have played the least minutes or the second team — we are not going to waste energy on this competition, for sure.”

It is worth noting that Tottenham also rotate their squad in the EFL Cup. For example, Fraser Forster typically comes in between the sticks and some younger players such as Lucas Bergvall are given a chance.

However, Tottenham fans must not get too excited. Man City have ridiculous squad depth, so even their second team is still capable of beating most first teams in England.

Either way, though, Tottenham are handed an edge in this competition. Given that Ange Postecoglou desires to win trophies this season, the EFL Cup could hand a major opportunity to Spurs.

After all, the last competition which Tottenham won was the League Cup. It is certainly in Ange's best interest to take this competition seriously.
