Manchester City wants to 'snatch' Tottenham transfer target
By Manuel Meza
Tottenham Hotspur is facing stiff competition from European giants in the pursuit of Bologna's talented center-back Riccardo Calafiori, according to reports from The Athletic.
Calafiori impressed significantly last season and has continued to shine at the Euros, notably contributing to Italy's victory over Albania.
Reports from Italy have consistently highlighted Tottenham and Juventus as the primary contenders vying for the 22-year-old's signature. DAZN (h/t Il Bianconero), recently hinted at Spurs' readiness to make a substantial offer that could potentially overshadow Juventus' bid.
The latest update from The Athletic sheds light on Bologna's stance, indicating their reluctance to part ways with the promising defender this summer. They are likely to demand a substantial fee for Calafiori, especially considering a significant sell-on clause owed to his former club, Basel, ranging between 40 and 50 percent.

Thiago Motta, now at Juventus as head coach, is eager to reunite with Calafiori in Turin, adding another layer of complexity to the transfer saga. However, Bayern Munich has also expressed interest, with Manchester City reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation.
Interestingly, while many Italian sources focus on Tottenham and Juventus as front-runners, The Athletic's report does not position Spurs prominently in the race. Despite their potential financial advantage over Juventus and Bayern, Juve's link with Thiago Motta may sway the balance in their favor.
The competition for Calafiori's services intensifies as multiple European giants enter the fray.
