Tottenham Hotspur center-forward target Dominic Solanke was not included in the matchday squad for AFC Bournemouth’s friendly vs Rayo Vallecano on Sunday afternoon.

Mark McAdam has reported that it is due to a minor toe injury after being stepped on in training.

McAdam said there was a little bruising but it is “nothing serious”.

The broadcaster is usually spot on for news regarding the South Coast club, but it is possible that he has been briefed by Bournemouth in this case.

Of course, it is possible that Solanke is actually injured. In a friendly, where results are not important - there is no need to risk a player, especially your star player - no matter how minor the injury may or may not be.

But the timing does seem very coincidental, leaving many Spurs fans suspicious at the news.

Alasdair Gold has said that Bournemouth are looking at potential replacements in case their star man departs the club this summer.

The Mirror are reporting that Spurs are unwilling to meet the £65m release clause for Solanke - so Spurs will have to be “creative in offering players” to sweeten any potential deal.

They add that due to Liverpool retaining a 20% sell-on clause, the release clause must be met for them to sell to anyone.

Should this information be correct - a straight cash deal can be quickly dismissed.

But, again - perhaps Spurs could be able to tempt Bournemouth by offering a player or even players in return.

In any case, the transaction would end up being expensive if a deal happens to bring Solanke to Spurs.

But again, beggars cannot be choosers and Spurs are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.

Solanke has had one prolific season in the Championship and a good season in a top flight level.

Sounds eerily similar to a certain Viktor Gyökeres- where the fan reaction appears to be completely different.
