Tottenham captain Heung-Min Son skippered South Korea in their World Cup qualifier against Palestine, playing the whole 90 minutes. Unfortunately, Yang Min-Hyeok was not in the matchday squad, despite being given his first-ever call-up to their senior squad.

It was a very frustrating game for Son and his counterparts, who had to settle for a 0-0 draw. South Korea absolutely dominated the game, having 75% possession, 16 shots, and four big chances.

Spurs' number 7 created a big chance for substitute Se-hun Oh, but he was not able to convert. Then, in the 87th minute, Son hit the post from around six yards out, having been found by PSG's Kang-in Lee.

The Spurs captain created three chances, he had 2/3 accurate crosses and three shots in a relatively quiet game for his high standards.

Frustrating day at the office for Tottenham pair

A very frustrating result for South Korea, though with Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, and the aforementioned Palestine, it should simply just be a small bump in the road regarding World Cup qualification. With the expansion of teams for the tournament in 2026, all Son and South Korea have to do is finish in the top 2 of this group to automatically qualify.

Even if they don't, should they finish third or fourth, they will have a chance to qualify through the playoffs too. So all in all, this is nothing more than just a frustrating result.

It is a bigger shame that Yang Min-Hyeok was not even in the matchday squad for the game and did not have a chance to make his debut in his first senior international camp. Hopefully, he will have an opportunity to be in the squad for their next qualifier against Oman.

That game, for Son, and hopefully for Min-Hyeok, against Oman, will be played this forthcoming Tuesday, with kick-off being 15:00 BST, 10:00 ET.
