Former Tottenham striker open to returning to Spurs
By Manuel Meza
Troy Parrott has dropped some hints about possibly coming back to Tottenham Hotspur someday, even though he's currently all in with his new team, AZ Alkmaar.
After a standout loan stint at Excelsior Rotterdam last season, the 22-year-old striker caught the eye of several Dutch clubs this summer. In the end, AZ Alkmaar scooped him up in a deal worth £6.7 million.
Tottenham ensured they retained a financial interest in Parrott's future by including a 20 percent sell-on clause in the deal. This clause means that Spurs will benefit from any significant future transfer involving the Republic of Ireland international, providing them with an advantage should they ever consider re-signing him.
Parrott has never hidden his ambition to succeed at Tottenham. In an interview with the Irish Examiner last month, he spoke about his dream of being part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
Although that dream hasn't come to fruition yet, Parrott remains optimistic about a potential return to the North London club. When asked about the possibility of rejoining Spurs in the future, Parrott told De Telegraaf (h/t football.london), "You never know how things are going to go in football."

Former Tottenham striker open to returning to Spurs
At 22 years old, Parrott is seeking stability in his career, making the move to Alkmaar at this time a sensible decision. This step mirrors the path of Marcus Edwards, another former Tottenham player who had a sell-on clause that facilitated a potential return to the club. The continuity and regular playing time at AZ Alkmaar are crucial for Parrott’s development at this stage of his career.
Parrott's focus now is on repaying the faith that AZ Alkmaar has shown in him. His impressive performances on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam showcased his potential, and he will be looking to build on that success in Alkmaar. The Dutch club has given him a platform to continue his development and prove himself at a higher level.
For Tottenham, adding the sell-on clause is a smart play. It keeps them involved in Parrott’s journey, letting them cash in if he lands a big transfer in the future. Plus, it gives them an edge if they ever want to bring him back, knowing they've got a stake in his career growth.
His story is still unfolding, and there's always a chance he could return to Spurs down the line. For now, Parrott is all about proving himself in the Eredivisie and growing as a promising young striker.
