Tottenham Hotspur fans are on high alert following an exciting update from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. According to Romano, Spurs are still very much in the market and could be gearing up for a last-minute signing, particularly in the left-back position.

While the North London club has already made several key additions during this transfer window, Romano hints that a late swoop for a left-back could be on the cards. Speaking to GiveMeSport, Romano explained that Tottenham are keeping their options open and are closely monitoring the market for any potential opportunities:

"Look, for Tottenham, I think there is still a possibility, yes, maybe to find an opportunity. For example, a left-back could be an opportunity that they could follow in the final, final days of the window."

Currently, Tottenham's left-back options include Destiny Udogie, Sergio Reguilón, and Ben Davies. Udogie, who joined Spurs last season, has impressed with his performances and even earned a nomination for the Premier League's Young Player of the Season.

However, his injury history, most notably a hamstring issue that sidelined him for nine games last season, has raised concerns about his ability to stay fit throughout the campaign.

Sergio Reguilón, on the other hand, appears to be on his way out of Tottenham. The Spanish full-back is not in Ange Postecoglou's plans and has been told to find a new club before the transfer window shuts. With Reguilón expected to depart, the need for another left-back becomes even more pressing.

Ben Davies, while versatile and reliable, is often deployed in a more central role or as a left-sided center-back in a back three, leaving Udogie as the only natural left-back available. This makes the potential arrival of a new left-back all the more crucial for Spurs.

There's renewed hope that Spurs could add one more quality player to their ranks, but it remains to be seen if anything will actually happen in these final days of August.
