Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has yet again raised eyebrows. In a recent conference, he claimed to "ignore" criticism from Spurs fans.

Tottenham Hotspur have been under the tutelage of Daniel Levy since 2001. This makes him the longest serving chairman in the Premier League. So, love him or hate him, he's here to stay.

Daniel Levy replaced Sir Alan Sugar as the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur at the beginning of the century and now, he is a household name not just with Spurs fans, but Premier League fans in general.

This is because Levy has been at the heart of Tottenham's transfer proceedings, both incomings and outgoings. He has driven a hard-bargain, which winds up both Tottenham fans and any club wishing to buy from them.

Daniel Levy says that he “ignores” criticism from Tottenham fans

Naturally in his position, Daniel Levy is prone to criticism from Tottenham fans. Particularly those who were around before the Levy-era are known to become annoyed with his proceedings.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Daniel Levy takes no notice of criticism from Tottenham fans. In fact, he attributes his ability to ignore criticism to his future success.

In his own words, Daniel Levy said: “I have a very thick skin and I just ignore it. Makes me want to be more successful!”

Daniel Levy is referring to his personal career success, which will anger Tottenham fans. At the end of the day, personal success for the chairman does not equate to trophies being won for Tottenham.

It is not Daniel Levy's job to listen to Tottenham fans. It is his job to spur Tottenham onto success. However, when his job isn't being met, he might benefit from listening to criticism from time to time.

The current state of Tottenham Hotspur is a good place to start. Fans are concerned with performances on the pitch, which have resulted in just two wins out of five.

Tottenham are tenth in the table. This is not good enough, particularly since the aspirations should be finishing in the top four, as a minimum.

Daniel Levy does not control what the players do on the pitch. This is Ange Postecoglou's job. However, Ange can only work within the limitations set about by Daniel Levy's financial calls.
