Ange Postecoglou is currently under scrutiny at Tottenham Hotspur. So much so, a former Liverpool boss has been backed to replace him this season.

Tottenham Hotspur have won two out of five Premier League games this season. They picked up their second win at the weekend, beating Brentford at home comfortably.

In his second season, Ange Postecoglou has a great track record at previous clubs. Tottenham are yet to see this in his North London stint but hopefully, the weekend was a sign of things to come.

Needless to say, Ange Postecoglou must hope for the best and put together a consistent win streak. While he is undeniably a great manager, the current climate is not kind to out-of-form managers.

Former Liverpool boss backed to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

According to a report from Liverpool ECHO, Ange Postecoglou is tipped to be sacked before the end of the season. The most favourable option to replace him is former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

The source cites odds from bookmakers Sports Casting, showing that the odds for Ange Postecoglou to be sacked by Christmas is 8/11. Currently, Brendan Rodgers is the favourite to replace him, at odds of 5/1.

Fans are encouraged to make of odds what they will. They are by no means a suggestion of insider knowledge or an accurate representation of what could happen. However, the same can be said about news reports.

It must be said that the article was originally published before Tottenham beat Brentford. However, it must be said that for a club who wish to finish in the top four as a minimum, beating Brentford should not be celebrated too much.

The Tottenham fanbase is split. Currently, most Tottenham fans would happily stick by Ange Postecoglou and trust his vision. A growing minority, though, point to the poor results as an indicator that change must occur.

Brendan Rodgers is an experienced coach who knows the Premier League well. He has guided Celtic to a perfect start this season, winning every game in each competition. The Hoops are also second in the Champions League.

So, it could even be argued that leaving Celtic to manage Tottenham would be a step-down. However, Rodgers has left Celtic before, so it shouldn't be ruled out.

Time will tell but the one thing which can be said with certainty is that Ange Postecoglou must continue winning games.
