Tottenham Hotspur trio Micky Van De Ven, Dominic Solanke, and Richarlison were not spotted in the training footage released by Spurs on Wednesday, four days before the trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United on Sunday.

Van De Ven looked to have hurt himself during the win against Everton, but soldiered through, playing the 90 minutes and providing that sublime assist for Heung Min-Son. It now looks like it may have been at a cost, however.

Eyebrows were raised when Richarlison didn’t start the game against his former club despite Solanke being unavailable. Ange had said he wasn’t fit enough to play 90 minutes, and the striker came on as a second-half substitute. Perhaps even that was too soon, however.

Concerning Tottenham injury news ahead of Newcastle match

Spurs did do well in the absence of Solanke against Everton last week, but Newcastle are most definitely a much harder task at the moment. Furthermore, no Van De Ven would be a huge blow to Spurs. He is so important to the way they play, and we saw some of the results without him last season.

Radu Dragusin is a very capable player, as he showed for Romania at the European Championships, but against the pace of Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon, and others, this game more than most is a game where Van De Ven would have been crucial, despite what happened at Newcastle back in April.

The international break that takes place after this weekend's set of fixtures comes at the perfect time for Spurs, giving their injured players an extra week to get fit and be available after the break. But, the game against Newcastle this weekend may prove to be a game too many, and a game too soon.

Let’s hope that some good news surfaces before the weekend and that this isn’t as concerning as it seems to be.
