Celtic manager to take Tottenham seat, is Ange Postecoglou at risk?
By Manuel Meza
The 2024/25 season hasn’t started as Tottenham Hotspur fans would have hoped under Ange Postecoglou. With just 7 points from a possible 15 in the Premier League and a narrow escape against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup, the pressure is mounting.
The bigger issue, however, seems to be the team’s performance and the disjointed way Postecoglou’s system is failing to click. In light of these struggles, a rumour has emerged that has caused concern among the Spurs faithful.
As previously reported, according to Liverpool ECHO, oddsmakers have tipped Postecoglou to be sacked before the end of the season.
Bookmakers have given odds of 8/11 for the Tottenham boss to lose his job by Christmas, with former Liverpool and current Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers being the favourite to replace him. Rodgers currently stands at 5/1 odds to take over the Spurs hot seat, which has raised eyebrows.
It’s not entirely surprising that Brendan Rodgers has emerged as the front-runner. His success at Celtic and previous experience in the Premier League make him a credible candidate in the eyes of oddsmakers.
Yet, it feels a bit premature to suggest that Tottenham are seriously considering replacing Postecoglou just yet. After all, football can be a rollercoaster, and the early months of the season often come with teething issues, especially when a new system is being implemented.

What’s more intriguing is that Rodgers has only recently started finding his rhythm again at Celtic after a somewhat challenging return to the club.
It seems unlikely that the Northern Irishman would be keen to jump ship this early into his project. Yes, football is unpredictable, but Rodgers leaving Celtic for Tottenham after Postecoglou did the exact same thing previously feels far-fetched at this point.
While these reports and odds can stir the pot, they tend to fizzle out quickly, especially when reliable sources weigh in to provide clarity.
So far, no such clarification has come, meaning that fans of both Celtic and Tottenham have little reason to be overly concerned. Postecoglou still has time to get things right at Spurs, and until more concrete information emerges, this rumour feels more like a blip than a real cause for alarm.
In the ever-unpredictable world of football, anything can happen, but for now, it seems Postecoglou’s job is not at risk, at least for now.
