Ange Postecoglou reveals intriguing approach to Tottenham squad rotation
By Manuel Meza
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou recently provided an insightful update regarding his approach to squad rotation this season.
With Spurs competing on four fronts; the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup, balancing player fitness and performance is critical.
However, speaking to the press, Postecoglou suggested he isn't keen on making sweeping changes to his lineup, despite the packed schedule.
Tottenham are aiming to end their long-standing trophy drought, and Postecoglou has four potential avenues to achieve that this season. Success in the domestic cups or Europa League is certainly on the cards, but it requires careful management, particularly given the demands of the Premier League.
Postecoglou knows that his side will need to perform significantly better in the cups than they did last season if they hope to lift silverware.
The Carabao Cup has already seen Tottenham progress to the fourth round after a dramatic win against Coventry. Up next is the Europa League 'league' stage, where Spurs are favourites to progress. Meanwhile, the FA Cup comes into play in the New Year, presenting another opportunity to chase glory.

Postecoglou, speaking to the press, shared his views on how to manage the team throughout this gruelling campaign. He stated:
"We’ve got a squad of players that we went into the season hoping to play 50+ games in a year, and you’re not going to expect players to play all of them. You’re hoping for around 35 games. We don’t really want to rotate hugely for each game."
Rather than rotating heavily for every match, Postecoglou is likely to field strong sides in most competitions, particularly where trophies are within reach.
A sensible approach could involve prioritising the Europa League and FA Cup, as both present realistic opportunities for Tottenham to secure a major title.
The Carabao Cup, on the other hand, may see more rotation, giving younger or fringe players a chance to shine while allowing key players to rest.
