Tottenham Hotspur are not done with their recruitment just yet. With just two weeks left, manager Ange Postecoglou has provided insight into the club’s remaining plans and how these could influence the squad for the upcoming season.

Tottenham are reportedly still on the lookout for a new winger, a central midfielder, and potentially another full-back. Despite these ongoing efforts, Postecoglou has reassured fans that the frantic activity of last year is unlikely to be repeated.

Speaking to the press (h/t football.london), Postecoglou acknowledged the inherent uncertainty of the transfer period but emphasized a more stable outlook compared to the previous year.

He stated, “While it’s open, there’s always a bit of uncertainty because of all the moving parts involved—both outgoings and incomings. This year, we’re working within a smaller spectrum of uncertainty. I can plan for the season with the bulk of the work already done. What remains won’t disrupt us too much, whether it’s incoming or outgoing. So, from that perspective, I expect there will be activity, but it’s less uncertain than last year.”

A significant development this summer has been the signing of Dominic Solanke, who appears to be a crucial addition to Postecoglou’s squad. Following Harry Kane’s departure last summer, Tottenham were in dire need of a reliable striker, and Solanke fits the bill.

Postecoglou highlighted the importance of Solanke’s arrival, particularly after a challenging pre-season marked by the absence of several key defenders and Richarlison’s injury.

“Dom was important,” Postecoglou commented. “Even though we had settled things, it was a tricky pre-season with many of our back four missing and no striker because of Richarlison’s injury. We only had young Will Lankshear. Without these key elements, building the team was tough. But we managed well, and having Dom in, along with Richarlison’s return, provides a more settled view of our team moving forward.”

Looking ahead, Postecoglou would be content if the club could secure a new central midfielder and a left-back. He believes the current squad, including promising young players like Mikey Moore, can adequately cover the wing positions, thus reducing the urgency to strengthen that area further.
