Tottenham began their UEFA Europa League campaign with a confident 3-0 victory over Qarabag, but the match left fans concerned about their captain, Son Heung-min.

Despite facing early difficulties, including a 35-minute delay and going down to ten men just seven minutes in after Radu Dragusin’s red card, Spurs managed to control the game.

They dominated possession and kept their second clean sheet of the season, with Qarabag's biggest threat, a disallowed goal, failing to disrupt Tottenham’s rhythm. The match also saw a bright moment with youngster Mikey Moore making an appearance, adding to the team’s feel-good evening.

However, the spotlight quickly shifted to Son Heung-min, who was substituted in the 70th minute after showing signs of discomfort, sparking concerns about a potential injury.

The club's supporters have been on edge, unsure whether the substitution was a precaution or the result of something more serious. Given Son's importance to the team, any sign of injury would be a significant blow to Spurs, who are balancing multiple competitions this season.

In the post-match press conference, manager Ange Postecoglou gave an initial, albeit slightly worrying, update on Son's condition.

He confirmed the forward felt some discomfort, saying, "He said he was a bit tight, but I haven’t spoken to him or the medical staff yet." Though short, his comment left fans a bit nervous about whether Son will be fit for the upcoming matches.

Thankfully, Postecoglou's latest update is more positive. Speaking about Son’s condition, he shared, “It’s still early days from last night. Fair to say the boys that put in a shift are fairly tired. Apart from Sonny, everyone’s ok, but I don’t think it’s too bad (with Son). He wants to train tomorrow so we’ll see how he goes at training and make a decision from there. We have another day up our sleeve to give him every chance.”

This more hopeful update hints that Son’s problem may not be as serious as initially thought, with the player keen to get back to training and be ready for Tottenham's upcoming games.

With Spurs currently placed eleventh in the Premier League, level on points with Manchester United, their upcoming clash at Old Trafford will be a key challenge. Son’s possible return could be crucial as the team aims to move up the table following a somewhat inconsistent start to the season.
