Tottenham Hotspur young winger prospect Mikey Moore has tantalizing upside, and for two years now, Spurs have been valuing him as one of their most valuable young players. After briefly shining in the 2024/25 Europa League campaign, Moore got a notable loan move to Rangers last season and taken in by the Scottish giants like one of their own, producing the goods in the most important games of the season in the Old Firm Derby.
Although there has been talk of Moore ascending to the Tottenham first team in 2026/27, Roberto De Zerbi and the organization have sounded lukewarm on giving Moore that shot. And so far in the preseason, he hasn't really stood out as a player ready for the Tottenham first team this season.
Clearly, Moore needs to be pushed a little bit more with a loan deal that forces him to face higher competition week after week, and he may be landing in an ideal situation that spurs him to stardom, just as Hamburg's tactical system was perfect for former Spurs center back Luka Vuskovic last season.
The Bundesliga looks like the right place for Mikey Moore
As was rumored, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that beloved Bundesliga underdogs FC Koln have submitted an official loan transfer offer to Tottenham Hotspur for Mikey Moore. With Borussia Dortmund pushing to sign Koln's own left winger sensation Said El Mala, that position could be wide open for the taking for Moore on a team that likes to play explosive, counterattacking football. Koln and Borussia Dortmund, who had loan interest in Moore in the recent past, are friends with each other as clubs and have some of the same values with how they like to play - and Koln can give Moore a lot more playing time than Dortmund.
Nothing is sealed yet, but as the reports circulate, Koln is starting to look more and more like the best spot for Moore, and while El Mala is highly unlikely to come back the other way - or be a better option than just sticking with young Mathys Tel as a rotational option anyway - it would still be a great bit of business for Spurs on the primary premise of helping Moore's development.
This season, Moore will be one of the biggest under the radar stories to watch for Tottenham, as he has world class potential in that hybrid left wing and attacking midfield role, which Koln can easily accommodate in their system and playing style. They are, per Fabrizio Romano, "clear favorites" to sign Moore at this stage, and they are his best shot at Luka Vuskovic breakout in the Said El Mala position.
