There are so many talented footballers who have been badly wronged by new Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank, who has brought nothing but misery and sniveling press conferences to the N17. Frank is the worst manager in the Premier League right now, burying Spurs to 14th in the table despite a summer of significant investments and a load of talented young players in the squad - talent he is not even making use of.

And no player has been more maligned under the incompetence of Frank than forward Mathys Tel. After impressing in the 2024/25 season on the road to the Europa League title, Tel earned a permanent deal from Bayern Munich, with Tottenham scoring a discounted rate on the future superstar.

Instead of treating him like a future superstar, though, Frank has been discarding him from the lineup pretty frequently. It is outrageous. Tel has been scoring goals and shining to the point where it is so obvious to Spurs fans that he is the future and is by far the best left winger in the squad. Heck, he could be so good that he could be the answer on the left wing without Spurs needing to make a big signing, but we will never know because Frank does not play him.

Thomas Frank is less important than Mathys Tel

According to a report from RMC Sport's Fabrice Hawkins, the worst fears of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been confirmed. As the sprinkling of transfer rumors have indicated, Mathys Tel is indeed disgruntled by all the jerking around Thomas Frank is doing, bumping him out of the lineup with no opportunities. Per Hawkins, Tel wants more playing time and wants a loan move this winter tranfer window so he can get chances. A move is reportedly plausible.

Now, Tottenham have made it clear that they do not want to lose Tel or even entertain a loan, because, as their acquisition of Tel from Bayern taught them, any player is open to leaving permanently if a loan ends up going a little too well.

There are clubs in Italy like Roma who have been linked to Tel and would love to have him in their ranks. Tel is an absolute star with his movement, athleticism, eye for goal, and ability to pull off the spectacular, which he has done for Spurs even in his limited opportunities. Losing him would be catastrophic, and Spurs have to repair this bridge. Because by pushing Tel away and not valuing him, Frank is committing another fireable offense out of the many; Tel is much, much more important to Spurs than Frank is.
