Tottenham are in a phase where they need to sell to buy this summer, and one of their chief transfer listed players is loaned forward Manor Solomon. Ligue 1 giants Marseille were said to be interested in the attacking winger, but now Sky Sports reporter Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that OM have now reached out to steadfastly deny that they are interested in the 25-year-old left winger.

Now, the best hope Tottenham have to sell Solomon, if Marseille are indeed off the table, is for Leeds to sign the Israeli international permanently. Currently, Spurs and Leeds are negotiating a permanent transfer for Solomon after the end of a successful 2024/25 season in the Championship, but there is a distance in asking price.

Leeds only want to spend 15 million pounds on Solomon, while Tottenham are willing to sell for 20 million pounds. That isn't much of a distance, and Spurs aren't exactly driving a hard bargain, likely because they have eyes on Mathys Tel on the left wing and don't view Solomon as being the caliber of player who can materially help Tottenham make the leap to a perennial Champions League and top-four side in the Premier League.

Tottenham lose leverage without Marseille's interest in Manor Solomon

Solomon's destiny is away from Tottenham, but without a Champions League-level club like Marseille, who always seems willing to take a chance on attacking talent on the transfer market, they will have less leverage to negotiate with Solomon. Marseille's lack of interest now means less money in the pockets of Spurs, and 20 million pounds for Solomon would be a valuable amount of income to help chip in for a bigger signing in the attack or midfield this summer.

This season, Solomon scored 10 goals and 12 assists for Leeds in the Championship, helping the club return to the Premier League next season. He's also averaging 1.8 dribbles completed and 1.7 key passes per game, and that's solid all-around production from the wing.

The thing is, those are Championship numbers. Tottenham would ideally want to see something closer to 20 and 10 with dribbles completed and key pass numbers exceeding two in order to feel confident that a player can make the jump to the highest levels of the Premier League. Solomon's numbers would decrease in the Premier League to around five goals and five assists with key pass and dribbles complete numbers closer to one, and that's not better than what they have currently.
