Tottenham forward Manor Solomon has spent the 2024/25 season on loan in the Championship with Leeds United and has bagged 10 goals with 12 assists for the current league leaders. However, Spurs don't seem to have any long-term plans for the player, as TBR Football's Graeme Bailey and Jamie Brown report that Tottenham are looking for just around 20 mlllion pounds in exchange for a permanent transfer from Leeds.
Per TBR Football, Leeds only want to spend 15 million pounds, so there is a bit of a discrepancy there. Ligue 1 giants Marseille are interested, too, which is about par for the course for their transfer strategy, which appears to be signing relatively young forward with goal-scoring upside whom notable clubs around Europe aren't interested in.
Because that's the big takeaway from the fact that Tottenham are only setting an asking price of 20 million pounds for a 25-year-old coming off a strong season in which he provided important goals and assists for a team certainly headed up to the Premier League this season.
Tottenham don't want Manor Solomon on the team
Tottenham clearly don't want Solomon long-term and don't see him as a part of their future. Given they signed him for free in 2023 from Ukrainian powerhouse Shakhtar Donetsk, as TBR Football notes, selling Solomon at effectively any price would represent a pure profit for Tottenham. Hence why there won't be much interest in haggling on price, though 15 million pounds from Leeds seems to be the Championship side trying to take advantage of that.
Solomon can be a decent player at the lower Premier League level with his versatility and ability to provide some end product, but he's obviously not going to be anywhere near the world-class level as a forward. Tottenham need someone who can provide 30 goals in the Championship or 20 in the Premier League for them to be considered an upgrade on the likes of Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, and even Mathys Tel.
Johnson, for example, is much younger and much better than Solomon. His 11 goals in the Premier League compared to 10 in the Championship for Solomon with the Israeli international getting more minutes represents a much better return for Tottenham.
The fact that Spurs aren't trying to ask for more in return for Solomon is a sign of their approach here. They just want to get Solomon off the books as soon as possible and use that money to help chip away at the asking price for a significantly better attacking target who will actually help them.
