Former Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilón is closing in on a move to Major League Soccer's (MLS) Inter Miami, meaning he'll team up with Lionel Messi in Florida.
Messi signed for the David Beckham-owned franchise in 2023, having established himself in many people's eyes as the greatest of all-time following his outstanding World Cup campaign in Qatar.
The Argentine has since dominated in North America, although collective success has eluded the Herons since they won the Leagues Cup in the wake of Messi's arrival. Old pals Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suárez have all followed the former Barcelona superstar to Miami, but Alba and Busquets have confirmed their retirements following the 2025 MLS season, which concludes later this month.
However, Messi's men will advance in the Eastern Conference playoffs, so there's a chance for the great Spaniards to go out with a bang.
Sergio Reguilón close to joining Lionel Messi at Inter Miami

Miami, meanwhile, are already planning for the future in the wake of the announcements. They're taregting former Spurs left-back Reguilón to replace Alba, having left the club in the summer.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the 28-year-old has received proposals from LaLiga clubs, as well as Iranian side Persopelis, but his priority is joining Inter Miami. Surely because he wants to play with Messi.
Further reports suggest Reguilón has agreed to a three-year deal with the Herons.
The Spaniard signed for Spurs as one of Europe's most promising left-backs in 2020. A Real Madrid academy graduate who starred during the 2019/20 campaign with Europa League champions (that season) Sevilla, Reguilón joined the club amid an exciting summer, as Gareth Bale also completed his return to N17.
Reguilón was initially pretty good for José Mourinho's Lilywhites. The boss handed him plenty of freedom to advance from his position to ensure he had an impact in the final third, and the left-back recorded six assists in all competitions during his first season. Five goal contributions followed the following campaign, during which Antonio Conte arrived halfway through, but the Italian struggled to take to Reguilón, who, while talented, was chaotic, unreliable and indecisive.
He subsequently had loan spells at Atlético Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford, but his Spurs career was over. Although our injury woes sank to such depths last season that Reguilón made six appearances in all comps. He paraded with the rest of the squad after the Europa League success, despite failing to play a single minute along the way, and was released at the end of his contract in the summer.
But Messi and Miami, eh? That's quite the landing spot for the forgotten man.
