3) Ademola Lookman

The first player on the list who 1) Has played for a senior team that isn’t England, and 2) does not have a contract that expires in the summer. Do not worry, neither of those things are big issues.

Despite being a full Nigeria international, Lookman was born and raised in London, and even played for several England age group sides, holding out for the senior team for a while before choosing Nigeria. As a result, he more than counts as a homegrown player, just as much as Gomes and Walker-Peters do.

Although his contract does not expire in the summer, it does expire the year after, in 2026. With the winger showing no signs of extending, in the summer nor since, Atalanta are reportedly willing to cash in on the ballon d’or nomineewho has been watched by Spurs scouts, for a fee of “25-30 million Euros”. This sort of fee feels like a bargain for a player with such output and quality as Lookman.

The 27-year old is capable of playing on either flank, as well as in the number ten role. Like the other two players, he would add versatility and quality to go along with helping towards the homegrown quota. Whilst Lookman and Walker-Peters are a little older than Gomes, they are most certainly in their prime years rather than beyond them.
