Tottenham Hotspur could have easily signed a new top young goalkeeper this summer transfer window and justified him as the Guglielmo Vicario, making a splash and ushering in a new era of goalkeeping at the club after Vic's disastrous 2025/26 Premier League season in which he was the league's worst keeper and tanked his reputation.
James Trafford, who eventually joined Leeds United in a blockbuster, was right there for the taking from Manchester City and on Spurs radar for almost a year. Instead, though, Tottenham went the subdued route, and the only goalkeeper signing they made was veteran Premier League backup Martin Dubravka. Meanwhile, they signed young Antonin Kinsky to a contract extension, basically making the statement that they are committed to Kinsky as the No. 1 and that Dubravka, his Czech compatriot, would be there to support him.
While Tottenham are still having difficulties with selling Vicario to Juventus becaue Juve spent a while jostling back and forth with Aston Villa over Emiliano Martinez, there is no question that Kinsky is the guy between the sticks for the Lilywhites.

And though it is the preseason, Kinsky was, once again, impervious for Spurs, dominating Chelsea in a 2-1 victory with a few more stunning saves whlie showing a quality of distribution and accuracy of passing that clearly eluded Guglielmo Vicario.
Antonin Kinsky is sealing the fact that he is the present and future for Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham Hotspur in goal, and he is leaving no doubt this preseason that Spurs made the right choice by foregoing spending 40 million pounds on a new goalkeeper.
Last season when Spurs needed him most during the Premier League relegation battle, Kinsky was arguably the best keeper in the league during that vital stretch, and while nobody would put him on the same plane as David Raya or Alisson Becker yet, the 23 year old has as good of a shot as James Trafford - at a fraction of the price - at eventually being named in that elite bracket of Premier League shot stoppers.
Tottenham fans have been rooting for Kinsky to succeed for at least a year now, and he became a fan favorite during the relegation battle after bouncing back from his rock bottom moment against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. And now, Kinsky is proving Roberto De Zerbi and Spurs right for placing their faith in him.
