Tottenham Hotspur starting goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky had an insane end to the 2025/26 Premier League season. After suffering an embarrassing defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League knockout stages in which he was subbed out before the break by Igor Tudor in a humiliating moment that many wondered could spell the end of his Spurs career, an injury to Guglielmo Vicario forced Kinsky back into the starting XI.

And after hitting rock bottom, Kinsky flourished under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, who still stuck with the Czech international despite Vicario returning from hernia surgery. De Zerbi saw how much more secure Spurs were with Kinsky between the sticks and how much better the younger goalkeeper was on the ball, avoiding the same horrible mistakes Vic made repeatedly.

Kinsky also showed the potential Tottenham fans had seen in him as a prospect to become the next great Suprs goalkeeper, saving the club from relegation with multiple jaw dropping saves that proved to be crucial points in the table.

Roberto De Zerbi believes in Antonin Kinsky

Now, Tottenham Hotspur have rewarded Antonin Kinsky with a fat new contract and wage bonus to confirm him as the new No. 1, signing only Martin Dubravka to back him up with not even an ounce of interest in a big name like James Trafford to attempt to replace Guglielmo Vicario, who is now known as the outgoing No. 2.

In the statement confirming Kinsky's new deal with the club, Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi waxed poetic on his young goalkeeper, "Toni was outstanding over the final seven games of the season. We have huge belief in what Toni can become. I know that Spurs is the perfect place for him to continue to develop into one of Europe's best goalkeepers."

Tottenham fans were honestly saying this about Kinsky for months - and not jus the months since he reestablished himself in the Tottenham lineup after Vicario's injury, but also in the many months before that when Spurs were not even playing him despite Vic's struggles and his own prodigious upside.

It is crucial for clubs to believe in their young talents, and Tottenahm have frustratingly failed to do so with several of their gems. Kinsky was headed down that dark path before not only Vicario's injury brought him back into the light, but De Zerbi saw his quality performances and actually backed them by sticking by the keeper. Spurs fans know he is special, and De Zerbi does, too.
