When speaking to the media on Tuesday, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglu has confirmed that Wilson Odobert has suffered a setback on his return from injury, and will definitely miss the Carabao Cup clash with Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Ange also stated that whilst Heung Min-Son is "nearly fit", the captain is "unlikely" to be available for the game against City, just to pour some salt into the wounds for Spurs.
This really leaves Spurs short in terms of options on the left-wing. Will Ange start Mikey Moore for a third game in a row, and third game in just six days? Probably not optimal, but the alternatives are pretty scarce at the moment.
There is no doubt that Timo Werner is seriously struggling at the moment. Whilst he would have opportunities to get in behind the City highline, it is in vain if there is no end product to go with it.
It feels like it could be an opportunity for Richarlison to start on the left. His profile could actually be useful in this game. Whilst not blistering, he still has enough speed to get in behind the City highline. More prominently, his ability in the air could be a key weapon for City.
In terms of who City could play at right-back - Rico Lewis is only 5'7, and whilst Kyle Walker is around 6', aerial ability is not one of his better attributes, and Spurs have exposed it in in previous meetings with City.
Pep Guardiola has said that there will be academy players featuring in the game. Lakyle Samuel, the first choice right-back for City U21s in Premir League 2, is around 5'9. If any of these three players start the game, then back post crosses towards Richarlison could be a huge weapon for Spurs throughout the game.
On occasions, Manuel Akanji has played there for City - and he stands at 6'2. However, the defender has already logged 1,293 minutes for club and country this season, and with Pep's nonchalant attitude towards this game, it feels like he will be one of the players that doesn't start this game.
Where possible, the rest of the team should be as strong as possible. Whilst the game against Aston Villa at the weekend is also important - there are 28 more Premier League games after it. If Spurs lose against City, that is another trophy crossed off for another year. It should take priority, little doubt about that.
