It was a milestone moment and a massive three points for Tottenham Hotspur as Harry Kane delivered a 1-0 win over the champs.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City entered Sunday’s game with an opportunity to gain ground on the team in front of them. City sat five points behind Arsenal, who lost on Saturday, and Spurs were four points back of Newcastle, who drew the day before. When the game was over, while the title chase was still a race, the top four got much closer as Tottenham ensured five teams were fighting for those four precious spots in the Champions League.

Kane came through again for Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane scored a goal for the now club-record 267th time in his tenure at Tottenham Hotspur. Having equaled the legend Jimmy Greaves in our last match against Fulham on Sunday, Kane struck again, passing the all-time great in the record books.

The moment’s emotion was evident as Kane and the entire team celebrated the goal, which gave the Lilywhites the lead and Harry the record. Fortunately, the moment was not too big for us, as Spurs could absorb punches and deliver counter-punches throughout the match.

More importantly for Spurs, it was the second straight 1-0 win in league play, which keeps Tottenham in the top-four chase.

Spurs have now closed the gap to Newcastle to one point, while Manchester United sits just three points ahead of Tottenham in third place. While both the Magpies and the Red Devils have a game in hand on Tottenham, being within three points of third after playing an extra game is a lot better than six back having played one more.

At this point, it is debatable whether any other teams are in the top-four race after Tottenham. Technically Brighton has two games in hand. If they were to win them both, they would be level on points with Newcastle and ahead of Spurs. Of course, we all know that games in hand are not always worth the three points we give ourselves when imagining the future table.

Brighton’s role in the top-four chase remains to be seen, but as of today, after beating the champions, behind a magical moment from Harry Kane, Spurs are firmly in the race.
