Tottenham Hotspur has now played 20 games in the Premier League this season, with 10 coming each of two different coaches, so how do the gaffers compare?

Through 10 matches things were not looking so good for Tottenham with Spurs playing 500 football and conceding more than they were scoring. However, in the 10 matches since under a new regime, Spurs have again found their scoring form and are picking up points. So how exactly do these two reigns compare?

Rough run at Tottenham for Santo

Nuno Espirito Santo led Tottenham for 10 Premier League matches, seeing his Spurs side win and lose and equal five matches. 15 points from a possible 30 are not great totals and at just 1.5 points per match, which is good for about 57 points on the season would result in a midtable finish.

With only nine goals in the 10 matches and 16 conceded, things were not looking good and back-to-back shutout losses meant Santo was done.

Spurs immediately different under Conte

Even in their first match under Antonio Conte Spurs were different. Although Tottenham did not score in a 0-0 draw with Everton, it was Spurs’ first clean sheet since matchday three and served as a real confidence booster.

Most of us know that following that raw, Spurs went on a little run under Conte, going unbeaten for nine before losing to Chelsea this past weekend.

During that nine-match unbeaten run, Spurs won six and drew three. Even better they completely flip-flopped their goal situation. With 17 goals for and only against through nine matches under Conte, Spurs have turned their season around.

Half of the league matches under Conte – five – have resulted in a clean sheet and at 2.1 points per match, Spurs would be on track for almost 80 points if Conte was in charge the entire season.

Also, Conte has not been in charge for a full season and we would do good to remember that. It was the middle of a season – really near the end of the first quarter – when Conte came in to help Tottenham. If the team is this much improved in a couple of months imagine where they can be after having a summer to prepare, which in fairness Nuno never had either.

Paratici made biggest hire before the window. dark. Next

Markedly better on the eyes and in the table, that is the highlight from Conte’s first 10. And I for one cannot wait to see the next 10.
