Several Tottenham stars were back in international action Saturday

With the schedule still on break for Tottenham Hotspur, we only have the international matches to tide us over, on Saturday several stars were out for Spurs.
With the international break and World Cup qualifiers continuing on Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur once again had a handful of players participating. While one team was likely happy to get three points and the other disappointed, once again one Tottenham player is on a role internationally.
Højbjerg, Denmark continue their run
After a fantastic Euro 2020 where Pierre Højbjerg made the team of the tournament, his play and that of the entire team has continued. While a 0-1 win over the Faroe Islands is not like Germany trouncing Brazil, it did continue an unbeaten qualifying campaign for the Danes.
Through five matches Denmark is unbeaten and is the only such team having played five full games. Harry Kane who scored earlier this week and England can equal that unbeaten mark with a win at home over Andorra but Denmark got their first. The only bad part for Højbjerg, if there was one, was his yellow card. The Spur’s Viking even got a rare ‘rest’ as he was subbed off at 90 minutes as Denmark worked to waste time on the clock.
Højbjerg and Denmark may have continued their unbeaten qualifying run but for other Tottenham players, the road has not been as smooth.
Hugo Lloris and France draw again
Whereas Denmark is unbeaten through five matches, to top Group F pm t5 points, France is unbeaten and Top Group D on just 9 points. If Finland with the two games they have in hand, they will actually be on top of the group through five matches with 11 points.
France is really just stuck in a drawing rut. Since beating Germany in the first match of Euro 2020, France has drawn five straight matches. Even worse, the third of the five was a loss to Switzerland in a shootout.
On Saturday, Les Bleus did a poor job of clearing a rather meager cross, which rolled perfectly to Mykola Shaparenko at the top of the box. Shaparenko struck the ball perfectly beating Lloris high to his left and somehow not ripping a hole in the net. A goal just into the second half gave Frane the point,
France is likely disappointed with their point, however, for the Republic of Ireland, a point is something different.
Two from Tottenham go for the Republic of Ireland
Matt Doherty and Tottenham loanee Troy Parrott both started for the Republic of Ireland on Saturday against Azerbaijan. Doherty created a couple of shots and took one himself. Parrott drew a foul, committed a foul, and managed one shot on target.
After playing on the left outside of the midfield four in Ireland’s previous match, Doherty was on the right side of the four on Saturday. Parrott played as one of two #10s sitting in front of the midfield but behind striker Adam Idah. Both Parrott and Doherty were subbed in the second half with Ireland behind, although they did come back to tie the game.
The point was the first for either the Republic of Ireland or Azerbaijan in the current round of qualifying.
Tottenham is likely to have more players in action on Sunday as besides England, Argentina, Colombia, and Italy all play presenting four opportunities in addition to Kane for Spurs to impact proceedings.
