Thursday marked the second straight day of international action filled with World Cup qualifiers and for the second straight day, Tottenham players had an impact.

After a relatively disappointing day for most of the Tottenham international players on Wednesday, on Thursday none of the four Spurs players in action lost. With two wins and two ties, the LIlywhites contingent had a decent day, although a tie is not what anyone is looking for.

Kane England continue to role

There were some questions coming in if the Three Lions were going to have a bit of a hangover from losing the Euros a couple of months back. After a slow start with no goals in the first half, Kane and company exploded for four goals in the second and rolled over Hungary.

Kane scored the second for England and likely should have had more, but was denied by Hungarian keeper Péter Gulácsi when he was in on goal. While he did get denied in the one-on-one situation, Kane’s diving header off a Raheem Sterling cross was a thing of beauty. The win keeps England unbeaten thus far in qualifying with 12 points from four matches.

Draws not what Tottenham players are looking for

Heung-Min Son and South Korea were no doubt disappointed in drawing at home against IraqSon started and played the full 90 for his country but never got the goal they needed. This was South Korea’s first game in their group so they have time to recover, however dropping points at home to Iraq was not the desired or expected result.

Sanchez goes 90 for Colombia

In South America, the CONMEBOL qualifying is in full swing. Davinson Sanchez started and went the full 90 minutes for Colombia who needed everything Sanchez had to give and likely than some. Bolivia, who currently sits eighth out of 10 teams in the group out possessed Colombia 57 to 43 and outshot Sanchez’s side 22 to 11.

. Despite having fewer shots and less possession Colombia did take the lead at 69 minutes. Eventually, the pressure was too much for Colombia was Bolivia scored at 83 minutes, and both sides left with a point. Colombia has to like getting a point on the road but against one of the lesser sides in the confederation, Colombia likely wanted to get more.

Lo Celso makes a difference

Giovani Lo Celso started and played just over an hour for the reigning South American champion Argentina side. Despite being on the road in Venezuela, Argentina dominated the match. WIth 73% of the possession, Venezuela had little chance.

Argentina pepper the Venezuela goal with 17 shots including an incredible 10 shots on target. Lo Celso did his part assisting Laurtaro Martinez for Argentina’s opening goal with a nice little through ball.

After a couple of busy days to kick off the international period, no Tottenham players are playing on Friday but several will be back in action on Saturday.
