After a long negotiation, including time to find a replacement, it seems that Cristian Romero is finally going to join Tottenham from Atalanta.

With Harry Kane seemingly on his way out at Tottenham Hotspur, fans need some good news and Fabrizio Romano has indicated that the good news is close. In securing a loan deal with Juventus – with an option to buy – Atalanta has their replacement for Cristian Romero and a deal will soon be announced that the Argentine is headed to north London.

Wednesday is the big day for Tottenham and Romero?

According to Romano, Tottenham is “preparing paperwork” for the deal today and Romero will soon be in London. Although we have seemingly heard this before, the fact that the Merih Demiral deal to Atlanta is included in the tweet lends credence that this may finally be the one.

WIth loan Atalanta’s parameters for sale have been met

In a negotiation tactic that likely many Tottenham fans hope to see from Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy, Atalanta has been clear and true to their original demands. The fee was around £50 million the whole time and at €55 million that is pretty close.

The second part of Atalanta making the deal was contingent on them finding an adequate replacement for Romero. Since a loan with an option to buy worked so well this past season for Atalanta with Romero, they went back to the well with Juventus and have agreed to take on Demiral.

Nothing official until it is official

As of this writing, nothing has been officially announced by any of the clubs involved and until there is, it is difficult to get too excited about the defender joining the club. Ideally, this deal is done and there is nothing but medicals and the filing of paperwork to do as the reality is, the window is closing at the end of this month and Tottenham still has a lot of work to do.

Next. What to make of Kane no show. dark

If Romano is finally right and it truly is here we go, then Spurs are getting a fine defender and we should be excited.
