Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane now an Icon skin in Fortnite
By Aaron Coe
First Neymar, now Harry Kane. The Tottenham Hotspur star is the second world footballer to get the Icon treatment from Fortnite, as both Kane and Marco Reus have Icon series skins dropped by Fortnight.
Kane in an England, not Tottenham kit
Given the mystery surrounding the future of Tottenham’s talisman, seeing him in the Lilywhite of the Spurs in the game is what we really want. However, Kane and German start Reus are joining as part of a special tribute to Euro 2020. As such both are decked out in the kits of their national teams.
Fortnite is using Euro to kickstart their own UEFA Euro 2020 Cup with cash prizes. How much Epic paid to use the UEFA EURO 2020 brand, which has the trademark behind it is anyone’s guess. Surely they will make that up with people buying the Kane and Reus skins.
Dele likely a bit disappointed
When it comes to Fortnite, we know that Kane plays but it is his longtime teammate Dele Alli who is more well known as an active gamer. However, like Neymar’s selection, it is not about the star being a gamer as much as bringing stars to the gamers.
Neymar recently played with Fornite legend Ninja who also played with Kane, Alli, and Kieran Trippier in the past. If you take the time to watch Kane pay, he is even willing in Fortnite to make decisions for the best of the team – like giving the pro the best weapon.
Additionally, the game is not that different than a Spurs match, with Dele going down far too easily and often. But Dele did keep getting up and going for it, showing the resilience we like to see. In the end, however, much like Kane often does, Ninja pulled it out for the team and they got the Victory Royale.
Kane’s skin comes with Emote and Back Bling
Kane’s Icon would not be complete without his own Emote, known as the HurriKane, and his own Back Bling. Kane will be available for purchase both in a bundle with Reus and separately.
Whether or not Kane will have alternate kits at some point in the game, and whether that is a Spurs kit, remains to be seen. One thing is for certain, if Kane was not a household name around the world before this skin came out he will be now, with millions still playing the game worldwide. As a Spurs fan I just hope the new Kane admirers will be backing Tottenham come August.
