Now with the rumors of big transfers – think Buendia to Villa – likely to become truths over the coming hours and days, just how far behind Tottenham sits will become clear.

As the window opens, player transfers are only passing thoughts in the minds of fans as there are much bigger questions to answer, which seems almost inconceivable given the rebuild needed. However, this is where we are, where the start of the season has hit us and Tottenham does not have a full team to field.
