While the team has not had the kind of success anyone associated with the club would have wanted this season, Harry Kane has put up some incredible numbers. Such has been Kane’s consistency in the Premier League that he is looking to win his third career, Golden Boot.

The battle for the scoring crown could come down to the last day of the season as Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is on 20, just one behind Harry Kane’s 21. With the race for places atop the Premier League and in Europe coming down to the end, Tottenham will need every goal from Kane they can get.

Harry Kane and Tottenham

The run-in for Liverpool is slightly easier than that of Tottenham as a team but for Harry Kane, the numbers look good for a scoring crown. Based on career appearances and goals against the remaining opponents for each team both Harry Kane and Mo Salah should score approximately three more goals each.

I say approximately as the math equals 3.1 goals for Kane and 2.7 for Salah, which both round to three. If both strikers were to score three more goals apiece, Kane would win the Golden Boot for the third time. Of course, numbers tell us one thing history tells us something else, as we should expect several goals from both Kane and Salah.

Both Kane and Salah have two juicy match-ups to come

While both Kane and Salah each have five games to go, likely both strikers have their eyes on a couple of games against teams they historically own. Among the five games left for Liverpool are match-ups against Southampton and Crystal Palace. In 15 career games against the two teams, Mo Salah has 13 career goals – including 7 in 7 against the Saints.

Salah has scored against all five remaining opponents and has 19 goals in 33 matches, it is against Southampton and then Palace on the final day of the season where Salah is going to really look to make a mark.

Fortunately, Harry Kane also has two favorable match-ups. The last two matches of the season for Tottenham are against Aston Villa and Leicester City. In 23 career games against the two clubs, Harry Kane has 23 goals, including 16 in 15 against the Lions where Kane once was on loan.

In fact, there is no team Kane has scored more against in his career than against Leicester City. Seeing them on the last day gives hope that Kane can and will win the Golden Boot. Where like the London Football Awards Premier League Player of the Year, the Golden Boot is just an award, it is a remarkable one built on producing, something Kane has done all season. Further, earning a third boot to match, Premier League Hall of Famer Alan Shearer is something remarkable.
