Players to Watch

Chelsea have started to possibly figure some things out but it also could just be players trying to impress the new manager. Regardless, the Blues are already seeing the kind of Marcos Alonzo that Tottenham fans have grown accustomed to not wanting to see. Alonzo played in a modified left outside midfield, left wingback role to great success in the 2-0 win over Burnley scoring a goal.

On the opposite flank, Calum Hudson-Odoi has been growing increasingly comfortable out on the right for Chelsea. Hudson-Odoi is likely to give Ben Davies a lot to deal with as he overlaps with Mason Mount or Christian Pulisic in the attack. Odoi also is a willing cover man allowing Caesar Azpilicueta to charge up the right wing too.

Using this formation – which Spurs fans tend not to be too fond of seeing Tottenham in – expect a lot of play from the wings from Chelsea as the overload both sides with multiple players taking turns pushing into attack.

From the Tottenham perspective the questions are really about the attack and if Carlos Vinicius gets his shot at trying to lead the line. If Vinicius gets a full 90 minutes, he may be able to tap into some of his natural play-making ability and get the ball to the person Spurs really want to see kick-on, Heung-Min Son. Son has struggled of late having goals called back when has been hitting the net.

While Spurs will want to try to limit Chelsea’s opportunities, it should be becoming increasingly obvious to all, the Tottenham are going to be most likely to win by outscoring their opponent as the defense has too many lapses to consistently keep clean sheets.
