Tottenham Hotspur are extreme favorites versus 8th tier, non-league Marine FC in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup, here is the XI who José Mourinho will start.

Tottenham Hotspur are in an easy but also somewhat complex position. We know that the idea of playing Harry Kane is simultaneously a dream come true for Marine and many Spurs fans worst nightmare. With the need to respect the competition and work to ensure victory here is the XI José Mourinho will start and the nine substitutes to face Marine.

Europa League is Our Guide

To determine who Tottenham and José Mourinho are likely to start in a match where Spurs will be overwhelming favorites, we can look to Europa League as our guide. During qualifying, for Europa League proper, either Harry Kane or Heung-Min Son or both started. For the final qualifier against Maccabi Haifa, Son was left out entirely while Kane started and scored three goals.

In the last two matches of the group stages of Europa League, Kane missed out entirely of the 3-3 draw at LASK, while Son led the line. Then both substituted into the match against Royal Antwerp near the hour mark, just after Spurs scored their first. While that Antwerp match had a different formation with a three man back, the players who started the bench that joined them are the most likely combination.

Captain – Ben Davies

As has become quite commonplace when Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane are not in the game, Ben Davies, who gets the start at left back, will be Spurs captain on the day. This makes sense with Spurs left back rotation as Davies last played, last Saturday versus Leeds, whereas Sergio Reguilón played midweek in the win over Brentford in the Carabao Cup.  With Villa coming midweek after this one, Davies just makes sense here.
