Fernando Llorente joined Tottenham from Swansea City in the summer for £15million. However, the World Cup winner is set to be made available for an exit by Mauricio Pochettino when the transfer window re-opens.

After an impressive 2016/17 campaign with Swansea, Fernando Llorente was brought to Tottenham in the summer to provide talisman Harry Kane with some fresh competition.

And despite Harry Kane’s injury against Bournemouth this past weekend, it’s unlikely that Pochettino will put his faith in the Spaniard, instead favouring Erik Lamela, which suggests he’ll be making his North-London exit at the end of the season.

According to the Evening Standard due to Heung-min Son’s recent rich vein of form, there will be no place for Llorente in the Tottenham squad for next season.

And the striker has not done much to warrant a starting place in Pochettino’s XI, despite an FA Cup hat-trick against League One side Rochdale a few weeks ago, and it seems this was too little too late for the former Juventus forward.

Llorente did find himself on the bench in Tottenham’s last Premier League fixture; however, when Harry Kane came off injured early on, the nod was given to Erik Lamela to take his place, who certainly impressed when he came on.

The 2014 World Cup winner hasn’t had it easy since his arrival on North-London and has never really been given the chance to show his true potential that saw him single-handedly keep Swansea up last season.

Llorente has made 14 Premier League appearances for Spurs so far this season, scoring just the once in that time.

So after one year at Tottenham for the former Swansea, Sevilla and Juventus striker, it looks like his time may be cut short. It’s a shame that it hasn’t worked out for him.

However, with Son in such fine form at the moment and looking like he can get even better, it’s hard to see a starting position for him up top even with Kane’s current spell on the sidelines.
