It’s hard not to pick Harry Kane as man of the match when he’s filling the net more than a skilled fisherman at falling tide.

Kane’s brace put the result beyond doubt with only 23 minutes on the clock. Kane’s first goal showcased his explosive pace and brilliant first touch, both of which putting him in a position make Huddersfield pay. The 24-year-old picked his spot at the near post and passed it home with unsurpassable confidence.

Kane’s second goal was a moment of credulous genius. He created Tottenham’s second from nothing, shedding his mark with a swivel. Kane’s movement and turn was impressive, his resulting finish even more so. With poise, dexterity, precision and pace, Kane fired home a curling left-footed effort from about 20 meters.

Kane saw a well struck half-volley dip just over the bar a few minutes before his second. He had a few chances to earn his 10th Tottenham hat trick but it wasn’t meant to be. Let’s not forget Kane’s contribution to Spurs’ second goal. It was his first-touch pass that sent Christian Eriksen away, a sublime move eventually finished off by Ben Davies.

Kane, with six goals, has the most away tallies in Europe’s best five leagues so far this season. He also sits tied atop the Premier League goal-scoring list with Sergio Aguero, Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata.

And that’s after not scoring a single goal in August.

Spurs’ assassin put an exclamation mark on the best month of his career in West Yorkshire today. He’ll finish the month with 13 goals for club and country in September. In the 2017 calendar year, Kane has 27 goals to go along with six hat tricks.

Alan Shearer, with 36 goals, holds the record for most goals in a calendar year. With 14 matches left in 2017, Kane is on pace to eclipse that mark. The shopping list of outrageous statistics doesn’t end there. The Englishman has scored 13 goals in his last six Premier League away matches.

Oh, and by scoring against Huddersfield, he’s now bagged at least a goal against every Premier League team, barring Cardiff.

Man of the match? Without a doubt.

Man of the month? Unarguably.

Man of 2017?

With time dwindling in the calendar year, you’d have to say he’s a shoo-in for that honour as well.
