Tottenham’s Backup Goalkeeper Michel Vorm Ready to Play
Tottenham will have Michel Vorm as their starting goalkeeper for at least four games, possibly five, with Hugo Lloris injured.
With Tottenham’s captain, Hugo Lloris, missing the next for four weeks, Michel Vorm will be in front of the net once again.
He will get the most playing time in the Premier League since the 2014-15 season.
Two years ago, Lloris suffered a knee injury and missed three games. Since then, the 29-year-old hasn’t had anything serious until now.

Earlier this year in April, Vorm spoke to Tottenham’s official site about how he is always ready to step into the game if he is needed.
“You see the way we train and I work hard every day just to be ready,” Vorm said.
“That’s how I am. I’m a professional.”
“The situation is different now for me but in many ways, I do what I always have done. That’s a strength, I think.”
“You need to be ready.”
And indeed, Michel Vorm was ready to step up as soon as Hugo Lloris was subbed off.
Trailing 1-0 early in the game, there was an opportunity for Everton to go up by two goals just before half-time but the Dutch ‘keeper was able to stop Gerard Deulofeu.
“If we’d gone in 2-0 down at half-time that might have been a different story so it was great to make a difference there,” the 32-year-old said.
“These are the moments that I have to be ready for and I don’t get fazed by it with the experience that I have.”
Experience is definitely something that Vorm has in the Premier League.
Prior to joining Tottenham he was Swansea City’s starting goalkeeper for three seasons from 2011- 2014.

No team wants any major injuries, and losing your first-choice ‘keeper is never good. But not many clubs have a solid backup who can get the job done.
Tottenham are one of those teams who has a good backup.
This doesn’t mean that Michel Vorm is on the same level as Hugo Lloris — few are — but he’s no slouch either.
The drop in quality is somewhat significant, but if the Dutch ‘keeper is able to repeat his performances that he displayed last Friday at Goodison Park, Spurs should be fine moving forward.
Lloris’ absence means he will miss the following matches: Crystal Palace (August 20th at home), Liverpool (August 27th at home), Stoke City (September 10th away), their Champions League group stage opener (September 13th or 14th) and potentially Sunderland (September 18th at home).
It’s possible that Hugo Lloris recovers faster than expected, but generally, Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t rush his players back from injury.
Therefore, Michel Vorm is ready to help Tottenham now.
No one else can step up and take over than the Dutchman in such short notice. Signing a goalkeeper isn’t a high priority and Spurs’ youth ‘keepers are still developing.

The 32-year-old has been waiting to start for a while now.
Although he’s far from the future, he’s definitely the present right now until Lloris comes back.
“You always have to keep in mind that something might happen, it hasn’t in the last few seasons, it did here,” Michel Vorm added.
“You can see again that something can change in a minute.”
“It’s always strange when you have to come on in these circumstances, but if you can make an impact in a positive result then happy days!”
