Your daily Tottenham Hotspur Links is here.

To begin today’s Tottenham Hotspur Links we’ll start off with a story that you don’t see nowadays. Loyalty to their current club is something that a few players have when they’re given a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League. Christian Eriksen, since arriving to play for Tottenham from Ajax, will remain with Spurs even if they don’t qualify for the Champions League next season.

Next up, if Spurs are interested in a striker, would Alvaro Negredo make sense? Well if Tottenham’s two main striker options were West Brom’s Saido Berahino and Valencia’s Alvaro Negredo, a short term fix right now is to sign Alvaro Negredo. The transfer fee for Negredo will be manageable. And finally, Sevilla could be interested in bringing back Federico Fazio. But will Daniel Levy agree to sell the Argentine defender for less than he paid for (£8 million)? Let’s get to the links below.

There have been many times before, where a footballer’s ultimate goal at the club level is to play in the UEFA Champions League. Why wouldn’t they? It’s the highest club competition out there in the world. However, if players forego an opportunity to test themselves among other elite talents it’s because they’re loyal to their current football club. Christian Eriksen is one such player, just like Hugo Lloris.

Eriksen’s former Ajax teammate, Thomas Sorensen, spoke with Omnisport and talked about how Christian Eriksen is currently happy to remain with Tottenham, due to his loyalty. While there is a chance that the 23-year-old Danish midfielder could move on at some point in his career if Spurs fail to make it to the Champions League, that moment has yet to happen.

"“He is happy at Tottenham and he is very loyal,” Sorensen told Omnisport.“But again, if he has the opportunity to move to a really big club at some stage of his career and Tottenham are not there [in the Champions League], he might consider it.”“However, I don’t see him moving next summer. I think he is very happy there. He has a good position there.”"

An opportunity to sign a quality striker like Saido Berahino — even though he has yet to show it this term — or someone who hasn’t played in the Premier League since the 2013-14 season? This is an interesting question to consider since Tottenham have set their sights on getting younger at mostly every position. Perhaps at the striker position, this is something that Mauricio Pochettino could decide to buck the trend and sign a quality veteran?

Alvaro Negredo had enjoyed a good year with Manchester City by making 49 appearances, scoring 23 goals and registering 8 assists.

The only downside to this transfer rumor is how much would a 30-year-old footballer want to play behind Harry Kane?

This will continue to be the main question when looking for strikers who are already established and getting first-team minutes at their current club.

Harry Kane will get breaks here and there, but how much? Now, Negredo shouldn’t be bad like Roberto Soldado, since Alvaro Negredo isn’t going to be leading Spurs to the promise land like Soldado was tasked to do after lighting up Spain numerous times in his career with Valencia. That said, we’ll see how Tottenham approach the winter transfer window with one clear objective: adding reinforcements to the striker position.

Sevilla president José Castro has openly said that Federico Fazio is just one of the club’s options at the center-back position. Although both Fazio and Sevilla didn’t leave on good terms last summer, both sides might need each other now. Which is good because Daniel Levy already has a willing partner to hammer out a deal.

"“We are working on a number of options and Fazio is one of them,” Castro told Radio Sevilla. “He is an option, but nothing has been completed as of yet.”“It is clear that Fazio did not leave Sevilla in the best of ways and that really upset me, but I have to think about Sevilla’s interests.”“I have to swallow my anger, because this club needs Fazio. I do not like swallowing my pride, but I am willing to do something I do not like because it is in Sevilla’s best interest.”"

The problem is, how much will Levy want back? If Spurs paid Sevilla £8 million to sign the Argentine central defender on August 2014. You can bet money that Daniel Levy would want nearly the same amount for a player who has only made one appearance this season during Tottenham’s third round defeat to Arsenal in the League Cup.

If José Castro and Daniel Levy can’t agree to a deal, then Fazio, 28, might still be a makeshift player-plus-cash offer for West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino. Assuming Tony Pulis and the Baggies are still keen on the Argentine defender. In any event, Federico Fazio has most likely played his final season with Spurs. It’s just a matter of time, in January or during the summer.
