Tottenham Hotspur Links: 10/24/2015 Evening Edition
More Totenham Hotspur news ahead of tomorrow’s game.
Due to Tottenham’s many draws in the Premier League, which are five at the moment, a win against A.F.C. Bournemouth will only bring Spurs to sixth place. Only one spot ahead of their current position which is seventh. Of course, in order for Spurs to climb up the league table they have to win. How do they win? Let’s get to the links brought to you by former Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp.
– Harry Redknapp believes Harry Kane will score again [via Daily Star]
Harry Redknapp has the right to be optimistic about Harry Kane being able to score once again. Kane has done everything right with the ball at his feet and the net in front of him. The only thing that the 22-year-old English international hasn’t done is score. All of Kane’s shots — if they’re on target — have hit the keeper’s hands or feet. The struggle is real. This is what happens when Mauricio Pochettino is reliant on Harry Kane up top to score goals due to being the only out-and-out striker.
– Tottenham is looking to sign Jamie Vardy in January [via Mirror]
What better way to solve your striker problems by signing one who’s in-form for Leicester City? The thing is though, Leciester won’t actually sell Jamie Vardy, why would they? Tottenham could fork over millions of pounds — £25 million (the same amount for Saido Berahino) — and Leicester City won’t budge. Although that amount is tempting for the Foxes, they’ve gotten to fifth place in the Premier League this season because of a total team effort, spearheaded by Jamie Vardy himself. Consider this wishful thinking and Tottenham still searching for some help at striker.

Let’s be honest, there’s nothing wrong with showboating in sports as long as you can back it up and take a beating if teams retaliate towards you. In this case, having defenses in the Scottish Championship target you specifically and go in for hard tackles and challenges.
Is it dangerous for a 19-year-old kid on loan who’s trying to get regular first-team football? No doubt, but in order for Nathan Oduwa to not suffer any injuries, knocks or bumps. He’ll have to tone down his dribbling skills — which he shouldn’t because it’s what’s making him not only look good but it makes defenses look foolish. Bottom line is, it’s okay for Oduwa to continue what he’s doing, as long as he’s progressing well with Rangers, until he ends up getting hurt.
– Eric Dier needs to tone down his aggressiveness [via Daily Mail]
Actually… no not really. This aggressiveness that Eric Dier brings at defensive midfield is working right now. Sure getting yellow cards and being suspended after just eight games is not good. It could hurt him during the season if he continues to get booked, plus it could see Dier not get called up to the England Under-21 national team. But to change how he plays, that’s asking a lot even if he acknowledges it himself. Some tackles he deserves to be booked, others the referee is erring on the side of caution. If Eric Dier doesn’t press as much in order to lessen his yellow cards, it may give players too much space and a chance for them to capitalize by scoring.
