Tottenham Hotspur Links: 10/23/2015 Evening Edition
The second installment of Tottenham Hotspur links for the day.
Earlier today Hotspur HQ ran the first edition of it’s daily links post. Here now, will be the second installment for the day, an evening edition that will look at stories which have popped up for the past few hours along with some that weren’t able to make it in the morning and afternoon edition. Let’s get to the links below.
– Tottenham supporters want to see Andros Townsend sold [via HITC]
This isn’t shocking news whatsoever, in fact it’s become very redundant for a while now. In all honesty, the 24-year-old English international should have been sold this past summer — before Clinton N’Jie and Heung-Min Son were signed — even though it would only leave Mauricio Pochettino with just Érik Lamela as the team’s lone right midfielder. It could have also been a risky move as Lamela struggled early in the season but has since settled in. Selling Andros Townsend is less about him being a bad player, he has his good moments with Spurs, but as of right now it’s more about him not being a good player for Tottenham this season.
– Mauricio Pochettino will pick strong lineups in the Europa League [via The Guardian]
A brutal schedule domestically and in Europe won’t stop Mauricio Pochettino from fielding a strong starting eleven in the Europa League moving forward. After Tottenham failed to capitalize on a strong start with Christian Eriksen’s fourth minute goal, the Argentine coach will make sure that he has his best players on the pitch — schedule congestion, fatigue, injuries and suspensions be damned. It’s a good move on Pochettino’s part, but it’s highly unlikely because he still needs rotate his lineup who have played too many games, which hasn’t happened much. Secondly, at the top of Premier League table, Liverpool and Chelsea have recovered but are yet to be in the top seven. Should Spurs risk a golden opportunity to advance further in the Europa League to get a chance to finish higher in the Premier League than last season?

Mousa Dembélé is not making this up despite Bournemouth only winning one game in their last six Premier League games.
Call it good sportsmanship if you want, but every single game in the Premiership is difficult, which could suggest why English teams struggle in Europe due to playing in one extra domestic cup and beating the living crap out of one another all the time.
In any event, Dembélé is smart to say that “Anderlecht woke us up.” because that should have been an “easy” game. This fixture against Bournemouth should be an “easy” game. But will it? No. Complacency is not good for Tottenham right now with October being a winless month.
– Rangers’ veteran striker, Kenny Miller, says Nathan Oduwa will learn from “treatment” [via Scotsman]
Nathan Oduwa, Spurs’ loanee, has received extra attention in the Scottish Championship to the point that Mark Warburton wants the higher ups, “the powers that be”, to protect players even more. Protecting players is very important as limiting injuries is a high priority. However, learning the game the hard way isn’t that bad if you can handle it. In Kenny Miller’s case, he got the so-called treatment at a young age and it helped him learn the game. How to do certain things, what you can and can’t get away with. It could be argued that it’s par for the course for a young footballer. So long as Nathan Oduwa and Dominic Ball for that matter, doesn’t come back from injured but returns as better players, then that’s all that matters.
