We couldn't be more out of transfer window season if we tried, yet the rumour mills are unrelenting.
There will be folk at Tottenham Hotspur operating in the shadows, preparing for the winter window after a hectic summer. The club embarked on a record splurge during Roberto De Zerbi's first transfer window at the helm, with the Italian attempting to build a team in his image after last season's mess.
De Zerbi earned the right to demand plenty, and although some of us may be concerned about just how much power he's accumulated after steering us to safety, it looks like plenty of good will come from the first haul of players attained under De Zerbi's watch.
Back-to-back victories mean the January transfer window has been thrust to the back of our minds, but there was a time not so long ago when supporters were conjuring extensive shopping lists for the winter. A goalscorer has to be the priority if we dip our toe in the market, with depth at full-back perhaps another area to consider.
Much will depend on the health of De Zerbi's roster in the new year, and whether Barcelona or Real Madrid strongly pursue Pedro Porro.
Could Real Madrid use Trent Alexander-Arnold to sign Pedro Porro?
The Englishman's Real Madrid career is currently going nowhere. A difficult start in the Spanish capital has only become more troubled since José Mourinho's arrival. With Federico Valverde successfully used at right-back in recent outings, Alexander-Arnold has slipped to third in the depth chart.
Thus, it's understandable as to why he's been linked with a move away. More reliable reports suggest Alexander-Arnold has no desire to leave Madrid and wants to prove himself to the manager, but those rumour mills will churn, baby!
Cadena SER believes a return to Liverpool could be on the cards, with his former club exploring a loan move in January. A homecoming would surely be an option for Trent if he decided to leave Madrid next year, especially with Ronald Araújo likely to stay at Anfield for this season only.
However, I'm going to predict that the Spanish media will soon begin throwing Tottenham's name into the mix. I'm preparing supporters for what's about to come.
We've seen Pedro Porro's comments about him wanting to return to Spain one day, and although it'd take a huge offer from Real Madrid or Barcelona to prise him away, given his contract extension and soaring stock, that will matter little to Spanish outlets desperate to fill columns.
An exchange involving Porro and Alexander-Arnold is fanciful. Such deals are so rare. Their similarity in profile renders such a move logical, though, and Trent may fancy reuniting with old pal Andy Robertson in north London.
Oh my word, I might be slowly convincing myself that this is feasible. What have I done? If we are to one day sell Porro for a fair fee, who better than Alexander-Arnold to replace him?
I suspect we may have to be in a much loftier position in the Premier League table for the ex-Liverpool superstar to consider, mind.
