Andy Robertson was heavily linked with joining Tottenham Hotspur in January. However, he ended up staying at Liverpool until the end of the season. This was good for him as he was able to get the send-off he deserved for his services to the club.

Now, Spurs have maintained their Premier League status, Robertson will be joining them, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. However, on social media, there has been a mixed reaction to the signing amongst Spurs fans.

One user wrote on Reddit, "the fact hes won everything there is to win, captain of his country and i cant really see how anyones against it."

Robertson won the Premier League twice, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two EFL Cups, the Club World Cup, SuperCup, and the Community Shield with Liverpool. He spent nine years as a Liverpool player and before that played for Hull City, Dundee United, and Queen's Park. With Hull, he won the Championship playoffs, where Hull beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0.

The fan is correct in saying that Robertson is still Scotland's captain. He has 98 caps for his country and will be leading them at the World Cup this summer. His experience and leadership qualities will be a great asset to Spurs.

Not all Tottenham fans approve of the signing

However, not all Spurs fans agree, another supporter wrote on Reddit, "He isn't suited to being inverted either (not technical). And made a name for himself by being someone with very high intensity, which he has lost a lot of due to age."

Robertson is now 32 years old, so you can understand why the supporter is concerned with his age. Playing Robertson will result in the likes of Destiny Udogie, Djed Spence, and Souza lacking game time in Roberto De Zerbi's lineup.

The fan questioning his ability to fit into De Zerbi's system is also interesting. Spurs were interested in bringing Robertson in during the January transfer window. Therefore, he looks more like a club signing rather than one that the new manager desperately wanted.

Another fan wrote on the site, "Feels like a (Ivan) Peresic type signing: experience, depth, divisive, will deliver in some clutch moments, then do his knee in at a very inconvenient time

Perisic joined Tottenham from Juventus when he was 33. He still managed to play 50 games, scoring once and providing 14 assists. However, a cruciate ligament tear ended his Spurs career. He was sent on loan to Hajduk Split before joining them permanently. Perisic is now remarkably playing for PSV Eindhoven at the age of 37.

It remains to be seen how Robertson will fare for Tottenham. He may have a great tenure, or his body may catch up with him.
