For more than a year, Tottenham Hotspur were desperate to offload Manor Solomon, who was so poor that even Villarreal terminated his loan deal early last season. Although Solomon put up decent numbers for Leeds United in the EFL Championship, even the Peacocks didn't want to sign him permanently at that time. But by some miracle, Spurs found a taker in rivals West Ham United, freshly relegated to the Championship and desperate to sign someone after losing gem wingers Mohammed Kudus to Spurs themselves in 2025 and then Crysencio Summerville abroad in 2026.

Solomon has 1.8 key passes and 2.8 dribbles completed and fouls drawn per game for the Hammers so far in the 2026/27 Championship season. But while those numbers look respectable on paper, West Ham fans are frustrated with Solomon and view him as a massive liability, wondering why he has started 12 games for the club and continues to start.

West Ham are way off the promotional places and finding the second division a lot more difficult than they would have thought. It certainly does not help that Tottenham Hotspur gutted them again by taking their most valuable young player for a second successive summer transfer window in defensive midfielder Mateus Fernandes, who has been flying in recent weeks.

Manor Solomon does not help teams win games

And now, West Ham are saddled with Manor Solomon, who has scored just 2 goals with 2 assists in 14 appearances. While that's not the worst production in the world for a winger, it is pretty bad for the EFL Championship and for what West Ham expect from their forwards, since their goal should be nothing less than to win this league outright.

The big problem with Solomon that Tottenham have been well aware of is that he is not a team player. Spurs had to listen to a lot of complaining from him about his minutes or about mistreatment from the club, but the real reason why he didn't play was because he never showed he was good enough.

A big part of that is Solomon does not help his teams win. He holds the ball too much and plays like someone more focused on scoring or piling up his own stats than playing with the team. Solomon does not help in defense, he gets in the way of the other forward positionally, and his touch and technical quality are well below average, especially for a player who has a usage right like someone who would be the star of the team. Solomon's stats are a mirage because they don't account for how he drags down the rest of the team, and West Ham are beginning to realize he is a costly player to winning games.
