Tottenham believe they've signed a superstar in Xavi Simons, who joined the club off the back of a cruel summer of rejections and hijackings.
The 22-year-old was thrust into mainstream prominence as a pre-teen, when he was strutting his stuff at Barcelona's famed 'La Masia'.
Xavi had a Nike deal and a million Instagram followers by 14, but the pressure that inevitably arrived as a by-product of his youthful notoriety has been impressively mitigated. Key to the Dutchman's success has been shrewd career decisions, which include a productive year at PSV Eindhoven and veering away from the Parisian limelight in favour of RB Leipzig.
He hasn't crashed and burned like so many teenage sensations before him, and there's a sense that Xavi could yet emerge as one of Europe's leading playmakers—if he isn't already. The size of Spurs' summer coup hasn't quite been realised yet, but the burgeoning star has doubtless offered glimmers during his first two starts.

Xavi recorded an assist on his Premier League debut against West Ham, delivering a back-post corner from which Pape Matar Sarr headed home. However, it was not because of his pinpoint set-piece that grand excitement bubbled within the fanbase off the back of his display.
In truth, it was not a showing which encapsulated Xavi's very best. It was a feeler game for the instinctive playmaker, who produced a couple of sequences that would've triggered noises that no supporter would've thought of making during a Saturday evening out with their pals.
After Sarr's opener, Spurs sought to break with their shiniest new toy down the left. Most would've let the ball bounce before re-assessing, but Xavi adjusted his body superbly to chest the long ball down on the run. While an impressive move, it forced him to recalibrate, and Lucas Paquetá may have fancied his chances of giving the 22-year-old a propa' Premier League welcome—perhaps earning one of those yellow cards he likes to pick up.
Instead, Xavi took advantage of the Brazilian's commitment and skillfully chopped inside with a nutmeg on Paquetá, who was taken out of the game in one fell swoop. Blissful moans were heard around north London in the immediate aftermath.

Such sequences function as evidence to support Xavi's inevitable potential to blossom into the key cog in a Thomas Frank machine that desperately requires some invention. His role out wide hasn't allowed him to dominate on either of his first two appearances, with the right-footed Djed Spence far from the ideal partner for a creator who wants to work inside.
Utilising Destiny Udogie in tandem, or trusting Xavi with the No. 10 role, will doubtless allow the standout summer addition to elevate this Tottenham team. But hey, he's quickly won over plenty of hearts and minds at his new home.
